We are excited to feature the John Slaughter Ranch as a key highlight of the Apacheria Gravel event. This National Historic Landmark offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of Cochise County and adds a unique touch to our event.
The John Slaughter Ranch, formerly known as the San Bernardino Ranch, was owned by John H. Slaughter, a prominent figure in Cochise County who served as Sheriff from 1887 to 1890.
The ranch provides a window into the life of a turn-of-the-century cattle baron. Visitors can explore the beautifully restored house, wash house, icehouse, granary, and commissary, all set against a backdrop of stunning landscapes.
The ranch reflects the rich history of the region and offers visitors a chance to connect with the past.
During the Apacheria Gravel race, an aid station will be set up at the John Slaughter Ranch. This will allow you to take a break, refuel, and immerse yourself in the historical significance of this remarkable location.
The aid station provides a convenient spot to rest and replenish your energy while enjoying the historical setting of the ranch.
Explore the John Slaughter Ranch, the scenic trails of the San Bernardino National Wildlife Refuge, and the iconic international border wall. There’s something for everyone to enjoy during your stay.
